Dr. Groen is owner and General Manager of Kinesis Pharma BV, a consultancy company in drug development (since 1997). This company has now 40 employees.
Dr. Groen has extensive experience in pharmaceutical research and development, both with regulatory authorities and in industry. Initially (1986-1990) he was with the contract organization TNO (Institute for Applied Scientific Research) in The Netherlands, followed by an appointment as advisor of the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (1991-1996), having the responsibility for the assessment of the preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetics in registration dossiers. He also held positions as Research Leader at the National Institute of Public Health in The Netherlands (1991-1996) and as Associate Director Clinical Pharmacokinetics, with infectious diseases as major area, at the Janssen Research Foundation (a Johnson & Johnson company) in Belgium (1996-1997). As a consultant he has been involved on a management and operational level in the fields of preclinical and clinical development, regulatory affairs and licensing. He has a broad knowledge in the area of small molecules as well as biotechnological products. He is (co)-author of about 40 scientific articles.
On behalf of the Dutch authorities, Dr. Groen was involved in the design of the guidelines on Bioequivalence and Bioavailability, on Chirality and on Toxicokinetics.
From March 1999 to February 2005 Dr. Groen was General Manager of LAP&P Consultants BV in Leiden, The Netherlands. LAP&P is specialized in population pharmacokinetic and pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic analysis.
From June 1, 2005, Dr. Groen is Executive Director Drug Development of the International Antiviral Therapy Evaluation Center in Amsterdam.
Dr. Groen holds a Ph.D. Pharmaceutical Sciences (1986-1990).
