  Following the announcement of the National Biotechnology Policy made by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on 28 April 2005, the Malaysia Government is placing strong emphasis in biotechnology by implementing concerted efforts to improve the investment regulatory framework, develop relevant infrastructure, improve access to funding, increase the rate of R&D commercialisation, increase the number of skilled biotechnology workers and researchers and attract foreign R&D partners.
   
 
 
   
   
   
  The project aims to establish business and technology co-operation by arranging one-on-one business meetings between biotech companies and research institutions (inclusive of universities) from the EU and Asia/Malaysia to formalise business partnership such as technology transfer, R&D, trading of biotech products, venture capital investment, contract manufacturing etc. via the event.
